NEWS AND UPDATES
RADIO
Sunheart has been "burning up the skyways" with lots
of radio interviews lately, talking about the new and revised
"No Word For Time" from Council Oak Books. He spoke
on WXEL in Waterloo, Iowa on April 3rd on Mike Bung's show, then
on April 23rd had a lively interview with Dierdre Bryant (of WABC
New York) on WRNJ 1510 AM talking about Algonquin secrets of being
happier and saner by simplifying our life.
Coming up on Tuesday, May 1st, he'll be doing a one hour interview
on KTOX , 10 AM California time, with Cherokee descendant David
Hayes and also David Mitchell. The musical meccas of Loftland,
and Las Vegas are among their main markets, and KTOX will play
excerpts from Sunheart's CD "Long Lost Feeling," its
first radio airing. The focus will be on the spiritual life, and
he'll discuss reincarnation, and his adventures in Arizona in
1986, plus of course No Word For Time, and what it has to say
about reincarnation. (This will be 11 AM Las Vegas time)
Monday May 14th, 2001 he'll be taping an interview with Nancy
Beardsley on Voice of America, for later global broadcast. See
the Voice of America website for details.
Then on that same evening, at 8 PM Central time, he will be interviewed
live on KSTP in St. Paul 1500 AM radio. (9 PM Eastern Standard
Time if you have a very good radio. Their range is basically from
Wisconsin to Montana and south as far as central Iowa.
LIVE PERFORMANCES
Sunheart is always busy with live performances and lectures, as
always. On Tuesday April 17th, he conducted a four hour seminar
on "The Way of the Heron" the Mediation Techniques of
the Algonquins (with banquet featuring native foods) for 75 professional
mediators from all over the Hudson Valley, sponsored by Ulster-Sullivan
Mediation Center. He lectured, did over a half hour of lively
Q and A, and performed several original songs related to the subject,
which received a rousing ovation. In attendance was a Maori from
New Zealand, and one or two fellow authors. Follow up workshops
are in the planning stages.
On April 20th, Sunheart gave not one but two concerts at the
Pequot Museum at the Foxwoods Complex in Connecticut, one vocal
and guitar, singing original songs from the Red Road, and one
a virtuoso classical guitar performance for a fund raiser banquet
sit down dinner, which was recieved with enthusiastic applause
by the diners. The concert featured the masterworks from Europe,
but with a Native American flair. Sunheart will perform there
again in June.
On Friday May 11th, Sunheart will present a lecture at Boughton
Place in New Paltz called "Native New Yorkers, the Remarkable
Legacy of the Algonquin People of New York," in which he
will unveil many "surprises" concerning New York's pre-Columbian
history. He will discuss his forthcoming book by the same title,
and also present the new edition of No Word For Time. He will
use various media presentations to reconstruct Algonquin history
back several thousand years. An article in the Woodstock Times
will precede it. The talk is free to the public. Those interested
call Boughton Place at 691-7578.
On Saturday May 12th, Sunheart will appear in the off-Broadway
musical/opera "The Queen of New England" composed by
Algonquin rock star Phoebe Legere, starring award-winning Ken
Little Hawk, Phoebe herself, Sunheart, and master pianist/cellist/arranger
Dave Eggar. The premiere performance of this work based on the
real life drama surrounding King Philips War in the Boston area,
will take place at Roulette at 278 W Broadway New York City, at
8:30 PM.
On May 19th, Sunheart will perform the premiere of an all new
version of the wedding song "Love You Forever" for the
wedding of Brian and (soon to be) Lisa Wilkes, with a member of
the Sunheart band. Although not open to the public, this is an
event which is a great honor for Sunheart. Brian Wilkes, AKA Yona
Gadoga, is the subchief of the eastern band Cherokee of the Mid
Atlantic States.
